1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of topolines.app and its API, published by Alexis Oulès (details on the Legal notice). By using TopoLines you accept them. If you buy credits, the purchase itself is also subject to the terms of Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record.
2. The service
TopoLines generates contour lines and elevation maps (PNG, SVG and other formats) from public elevation data. The free tier works without an account, within the limits shown in the app. Paid features — HD exports, SVG and vector formats, higher-resolution terrain and larger areas — require signing in with Google or GitHub and spending credits.
TopoLines is in beta. Features, limits and data sources may change. We aim for high availability but can't guarantee uninterrupted service.
3. Your account
You're responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping your Google or GitHub access secure. You can delete your account at any time from the account menu.
4. Credits and payment
- Credits are sold in one-off packs, with no subscription. Prices are shown on the Pricing page, including applicable taxes.
- Payment is handled by Lemon Squeezy, which issues your receipt and invoice.
- The credit cost of each export is shown before you confirm it. Credits don't expire, can't be exchanged for cash and are tied to your account.
- If a paid export fails because of us, the credits are returned or the export is redone. Contact hello@topolines.app.
5. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)
You have 14 days from purchase to withdraw and get a refund for credits you haven't used — email us with your order ID. By spending credits on an export, you ask for the digital content to be supplied immediately and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal for the credits used (French Consumer Code, art. L221-28 13°).
6. What you can do with your maps
Maps you export are yours to use, including commercially: posters, prints, products, branding, client work, publications. You don't need to credit TopoLines. You may not resell or redistribute the raw exports as a competing map or dataset service, or use TopoLines to rebuild one.
The underlying data remains under its own licences, and some require attribution when you publish the result: GEDTM30 (OpenGeoHub, CC-BY 4.0), AWS Terrain Tiles / Mapzen sources, national elevation models (e.g. IGN RGE ALTI — Etalab Open Licence) and OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). The attribution for each export is included in its metadata.
7. Acceptable use
Don't try to bypass limits, credits or download protection, scrape the service at scale, overload it, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend an account that does.
8. Accuracy and liability
Maps are derived from elevation models that contain errors and approximations. TopoLines is a design and visualisation tool, not a navigation, surveying or engineering tool — don't rely on it for safety-critical decisions.
To the extent allowed by law, our liability is limited to direct damage and to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one on this page at the time you use the service or make a purchase.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. Contact us first at hello@topolines.app. EU consumers may also use a free consumer mediator and keep the right to go to the courts of their place of residence.
