Simplification Removes redundant points from each contour via Douglas-Peucker. Higher = smoother, lighter lines with fewer nodes (faster to open in design tools); lower = finer detail.

Approx. points per km of contour:
    • None ≈ 43
    • Low ≈ 7

Min. contour length Drops contour lines shorter than this, after simplification. Clears tiny isolated loops from DEM noise (micro knolls/pits) without touching real terrain features.

Placement Ordered aligns points to a clean grid — the relief reads as a halftone. Scattered breaks the grid for a hand-stippled, print feel.

Taper Varies contour line thickness with elevation — higher ground gets bolder lines for a layered, 3-D feel.
Relative Mode Turns the interval into a density setting: the step adapts to the zone's elevation range, so flat and steep terrain get a similar number of lines.
Index contours Draws a bolder “index” line every N contours — the emphasised lines that make a topographic map easier to read.

Flatten Merges every contour into a single path so the SVG imports as one block in design tools (Figma, Illustrator) instead of hundreds of separate groups. Uses a uniform colour & width (gradient and taper are ignored).
Coordinate system The CRS the exported GeoJSON / DXF coordinates are written in. Keep WGS 84 (lon/lat) for web maps, or reproject to a metric grid — Lambert-93 for France, UTM elsewhere — so it drops straight into QGIS/ArcGIS/AutoCAD with distances in metres (DXF contours also get their elevation as the Z value).
      • WGS 84 — lon/lat (EPSG:4326)
      • RGF93 / Lambert-93 (EPSG:2154)
      • WGS 84 / UTM — auto zone
      • Web Mercator (EPSG:3857)
      • OSGB36 / British National Grid (EPSG:27700)
Scale bar Adds a scale bar to the export, sized from the zone's real-world extent — the baseline a GIS map is expected to carry.
North arrow Adds a north arrow to the export (the map is always north-up).
Legend Adds a legend to the export: a line swatch for the contour interval, plus the index interval if enabled. In Points mode, the smallest and largest dot with the elevations they stand for.
